TriStars shine at Driffield Junior Tri

Ripon based NYP TriStars club celebrated their first birthday this month with resounding success at Driffield Junior Triathlon on the 19th of May. The junior section of the prestigious NYP Triathlon club has been going from strength to strength since its inception last year, gaining six podium positions at the popular Driffield event. Children aged 8-16 can compete in the TriStars categories: pool swimming, running and cycling. Sinan Osman, Head Coach for the NYP Tristars said, “The Tristars did us proud, with more than half of the team attending gaining a podium place. It is fantastic to see these children competing and winning at such an early stage in the clubs’ development. We are looking forward to a busy schedule of events this summer, and more and more of our club members are getting the bug for competing.” The highlight for many of the children will be when they compete in a demonstration event alongside the main Ripon Tri on the 13th July, the biggest club organised Triathlon in the UK.

“It’s a fantastic club, where the children are really learning new skills and making new friends. There is a strong emphasis on fun and encouragement, but there is a healthy level of competition and both of my children love it.” Sarah, parent of two TriStars says.

“The coaches are highly skilled, amazingly dedicated and even organise events outside the normal training schedule – this weekend, they went to the Manchester Velodrome and raced around the hallowed boards!”
